Living light, endless horizons and colours which touch your soul, these are the dominating factors in Heidi Hahns work. This combination of the palpable with an abstract view of reality is how the paintings create a level of representation and perception beyond reality, but also beyond abstraction - leading away from the sole perception of the image to a gaze that is focused inwards, from simply seeing to feeling. With these ideas and motifs Heidi Hahn follows in the footsteps of artists such as Caspar David Friedrich or Claude Monet, who did not just want to paint what they saw, but who wanted their images to convey the emotions that this seeing released.
