Debut Solo Exhibition of Korean Landscape Master Joon-yeop Jeon

State-of-the-Arts Gallery is delighted to announce our partnership with The K Gallery from Seoul, Korea. Through this partnership, both galleries aspire to offer our artists an alternative overseas platform for exposure and cultural exchange. To commemorate our collaboration, The K Gallery has curated the Hong Kong debut exhibition of renowned Korean painter Joon-yeup Jeon, titled The Light in the Garden, showcasing his new series of landscape oil paintings. The exhibition runs from 1 to 30 April, 2012.

Landscape expert Joon-yeop Jeon is known for his tranquil and sensational portrayals of nature in his oil paintings. His work demonstrates the spirit of traditional Korean aesthetic, conveying a sense of ‘light and hope’ and the East Asians’ point of view on the nature, in which human beings can harmonize and unify. This series of paintings are tribute to Jeon’s own cultural heritage, history and nature. His inspirations originated from Traditional Ink Landscape Painting – Sansoohwa. As a contemporary artist, Jeon shows us Asian art and philosophy has always been deeply influenced by nature.

With exceptional vision and innovation, the artist has explored new ways to portray what he sees, feels and thinks within and beyond his cultural reference. To convey the Western cultural influence he experiences, Jeon uses western oil painting technique to express Korean aesthetic and traditional landscape paintings, replacing some Korean conventions with Western technique and modernism. Oil painting allows Jeon to maximize the effect of color and texture through Western technique such as coating and scratching, as well as Eastern ones such as smudging and blowing.

Jeon has held 26 solo exhibitions worldwide. His work is collected by the Japan Royal Palace, the South Korean Embassy in Switzerland and Osaka, Mayfield Hotel, the Official Residence of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and more.

韓國山水油畫大師全俊曄香港首個個展

State-of-the-Arts畫廊一向致力推廣不同國家之間的藝術交流。於2012年,畫廊正式跟位於韓國首爾的K畫廊合作,為兩間畫廊旗下的藝術家提供更廣闊多元化的展覽平台。作為合作後首個展覽,K畫廊特別策展了韓國當代油畫家全俊曄香港首個畫展。展覽名為《光•庭園》。展期為2012年4月1至30日。

全俊曄是韓國著名風景畫家,他的油畫作品以其祥和感性的大自然風景最廣為人知。作品中所表現的是韓國傳統美學,刻劃出大自然醞藏的「希望之光」,也表現了東方國家「天人合一」的觀點。這次展出作品是全俊曄自身文化背景,國家歷史和自然的結晶品。藝術家的靈感來自傳統「山水畫」。通過其當代的表現手法,全俊曄表現了東方文化與大自然不可反割的密切關係。

憑著他的創意和獨特觀點,全俊曄打破一般人的理解和文化界限,從嶄新的角度描繪他日常生活所見所想。全俊曄在他的作品中反映了西方文化對他的影響,巧妙地運用西方油畫手法創作充滿傳統韓國美學的山水畫,以當代的手法表達歷史的傳承。油畫變化多端,色彩艷麗且層次豐富,讓全俊曄能融合西方的層疊色彩和東方的渲染。

全俊曄至今於全球舉辦過26次個人展覽。他的作品被國家和個人廣泛收藏,當中包括:日本天皇皇宮,位於瑞士和大阪的南韓領使館,梅菲爾酒店,外交官邸等等。
